About Textiles for Wellbeing
My Approach
I offer a gentle, creative space for adults at any stage of life.
My work is rooted in slow, process-led textile making, supporting calm, reflection, and creative confidence through simple materials and hands-on creative exploration.
Rather than focusing just on outcomes, I create spaces where people can slow down, notice, and reconnect through making. The emphasis is on presence rather than skill, and on experience rather than the end result. Participants are invited to work at their own pace and follow what draws their attention. This allows meaning to emerge gradually through fabric, thread, and mixed media.
Creative practice can be deeply steadying, especially during times that feel uncertain, overwhelming, or transitional.
Making can help us find focus.
Repetition can bring calm.
Small, gentle actions can rebuild a feeling of stability.
There are two main strands to my work.
Creative Wellbeing sessions offer gentle, accessible experiences for adults at any stage of life. These sessions focus on slowing down, grounding through the senses, and exploring simple textile processes as a way of supporting awareness, and personal reflection.
Alongside this, Studio Practice workshops provide more structured creative guidance rooted in textile design and visual language. These sessions support skill development, creative exploration, and a deeper engagement with materials. I also offer practitioner-focused sessions for those working in education, counselling, and wellbeing.
This work isn’t about just producing finished pieces, although some people choose to keep what they make.
It’s about paying attention and staying with the materials. This allows meaning to emerge quietly through making.
Everything I offer is grounded, reflective, and held with care.
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need an idea.
You simply begin.

Meet the Founder
Rebecca Hampson
Founder & Workshop Facilitator
My name is Rebecca Hampson. I hold a degree in Textile Design and have spent over 25 years working in arts education, alongside postgraduate training in the Therapeutic Arts at IATE. Through this combination of practice and teaching, I’ve developed a deep relationship with materials, learning how surfaces hold marks, and how small decisions in stitch, texture, and structure quietly record movement, rhythm, and touch.
Over the years, I have noticed how creative processes can offer something deeply steadying, especially when life feels busy, loud, or overwhelming. Through both personal experience and teaching, I’ve come to understand how many of us find focus through making, calm through repetition, and confidence through small, repeated actions.
My training in the Therapeutic Arts deepened this understanding. Working with clay, image, movement, story, and symbolic expression helped me see creativity not just as something we do, but as something we experience through the body. It also strengthened my awareness of how simple materials can hold feeling, memory, and meaning and how awareness often emerges through making, rather than through thinking everything through.
My work sits at the meeting point of textile design, therapeutic arts, and arts education, informed by Gestalt awareness, expressive arts, attachment theory, and trauma-informed practice. These strands come together in a process-led way of working that values embodied making, gentle pace, and self-led meaning.
Textiles for Wellbeing has grown from these experiences.
All of my work is grounded, reflective, and accessible, shaped by experience, guided by ethics, and held with care.
